WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA - Leading industry expert brings vision and urgency to a new era of Design-Build solutions -
The Water Design-Build Council (WDBC) announced today that Peter W. Tunnicliffe, P.E., DEE, DBIA, has been elected as their new President. Tunnicliffe, Senior Vice President of Camp Dresser & McKee Inc. (CDM), one of the world`s top global consulting, engineering, construction and operations firms, heads CDM’s design-build project development group.
"It`s an honor to take the lead of an organization that has so much to offer struggling communities across the nation during a time of extreme environmental and economic challenges," said Tunnicliffe. "We are committed to the quality and sustainability of the country’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Design-build project delivery speeds implementation of infrastructure projects. It is a proven and efficient way for local, state, and regional decision-makers to make critically needed repairs to our aging infrastructure nationwide and to expedite the creation of needed jobs in local economies.”
As such, the WDBC is formally encouraging President-elect Obama and the incoming Administration to support the use of design-build as the preferred project delivery method for executing federally funded water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
“As WDBC President, I`m committed to making the expertise and informational resources of the Council available to educate and assist community leaders in this important decision-making process. The Council’s educational outreach effort will focus on the Obama Administration, Congress, governors, mayors, and other municipal leaders."
Before his current assignment, Mr. Tunnicliffe created and led CDM’s design-build and construction subsidiary for its first ten years, growing it to one of the ENR Top 400 Contractors in the U.S. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1974 and a law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1982.
