Australia, these newest US locations will provide new and existing
clients enhanced access to ENVIRON's full suite of services.
Phoenix Office Expands Reach in Southwest
Ronald E. Hutchens, President of ENVIRON International Corporation, is
pleased to announce the firm's expansion in the southwestern United
States with the addition of a new office in Phoenix, Arizona. According
to Hutchens, "The Phoenix office's strategic location in the fifth
largest metropolitan area in the US places ENVIRON directly on hand to
serve our clients in this dynamic and rapidly growing region."
An integral component of ENVIRON's worldwide network of offices the new
Phoenix location offers the firm's broad range of environmental,
energy, health, safety, and sustainability services to national and
multinational industries, law firms, developers and property managers,
private equity firms, and lending institutions. Key Phoenix staff
members include Principal Consultants Paul Harper and Gavin Thompson,
and Manager John M. Pekala.
Principal Consultant Paul Harper has more than 25 years of experience
in environment, health, and safety management and engineering and risk
management. His experience has focused on corporate management of EHS
and risk management matters, including safety improvement, loss
prevention, insurance acquisition, productivity, dealing with complex
environmental liabilities in mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy and
corporate restructurings, remediation, and EHS management systems.
Principal Consultant Gavin Thompson, PhD, has 20 years of broad
experience in analytical, environmental, product, and regulatory
chemistry. Dr. Thompson has designed, supervised, and interpreted the
analysis of additives, ingredients, and chemical contaminants in a wide
variety of environmental media, consumer products, drug excipients and
medical devices, foods and food-contact substances, and novel
industrial and commercial materials. He has provided critical expert
opinions on chemical characterizations for safety assessments,
regulatory consultations and compliance, litigation support, and
product stewardship.
Manager John M. Pekala has more than 10 years of experience in
environmental consulting with particular expertise in the subsurface
characterization of geologic and ground water conditions that affect
contaminant distribution, migration, remediation, and site
redevelopment. His work has involved conducting Phase I and II
environmental site assessments; managing environmental aspects of
brownfield site redevelopment projects; performing sediment, soil, and
water quality assessments; conducting remediation activities; managing
water quality monitoring programs; and providing consulting support for
environmental litigation cases.
Doors open in San Francisco
Located in the heart of the city, the new San Francisco office provides
easy client access to ENVIRON's full suite of services. Key San
Francisco staff include Principals Shari Libicki and Elizabeth Miesner.
Shari Libicki, PhD, specializes in chemical fate and transport as
applied to managing greenhouse gas emissions and estimating air
emissions and dispersion from chemical processes, hazardous waste
sites, and emergency releases. Her experience includes negotiating
complex technical agreements and permits with agencies, assisting
facilities with compliance programs, and providing technical expertise
to entitlement and litigation teams. Dr. Libicki has lectured widely on
estimating chemical exposure for risk assessments and carbon management
and is a member of the faculty of the Chemical Engineering Department
at Stanford University.
As a Principal in the Health Sciences practice at ENVIRON, Elizabeth
Miesner brings vast experience in all aspects of human health risk
assessments including evaluating analytical data, statistically
analyzing data sets, calculating/modeling exposure point
concentrations, developing human exposure criteria, estimating cancer
risks and noncancer health effects from exposure to contaminated media,
and characterizing uncertainties associated with risk assessment
methodology. Ms. Miesner is familiar with agency requirements and
guidelines and has provided technical risk assessment support for
clients at client/agency meetings and negotiations.
